Our Program goal is to provide adults with disabilities the tools needed to achieve their highest ability, both in activities of daily living and community involvement. We prepare individuals for independent functioning in the community.
I started with the DAC in January of 2023. I have spent my entire professional career in Human Services where I believe I can make the biggest difference in the lives of others. It is pure joy to come to work every day. I feel grateful that the clients have us and we have the clients.

I have been working at the DAC since May of 2022, Hired as floor staff in a room- In October 2022 I was promoted to Designated Coordinator- In October of 2023 I was promoted To Day Service/Employment Manager. Prior to working at the DAC, I worked at a local Group home for many years as a DSP, PC, and Activity’s coordinator. I have been in human services since 2008.
“I believe my purpose in life is to help others Listen, be compassionate, not judgmental to people with special needs. I grew up in this field, My mother has worked at the same group home I did for over 25 years. I also have an aunt and uncle who have special needs and I have seen first-hand how everyone deserves a place to call their safe space. Here at the DAC is place for everyone connect with others, work on life skill goals, make a place of belonging within their community and of course having the best time with friends and staff.”

I have been with the DAC since June of 2021. In December of 2021 I moved into a residential position where I worked with independent individuals until promoted to Designated Coordinator in in May of 2022. In October of 2023 I was promoted to Management. Since 2006 I’ve worked at nursing homes and worked at a house for Alzheimer’s and Dementia. When I moved to Detroit Lakes I wanted to continue helping people.
I love this line of work, making a difference, putting a smile on people’s faces, advocating for people when they cannot, helping them learn new things and be able to be as independent as they can be.
